Default Staggered or Non-Staggered?

I am going to be putting 20" wheels on my 09 XF PL and replacing the factory 19" wheels. What would be the best way to go, staggered or non-staggered? Also what size will work? Offset? 20x8.5 all round or 20x8.5 front and 20x10 back? (I am a newbie and so couldnt download the fitment guide)

I would really prefer not to get different sizes so that I would be able to rotate tires when needed but some of the wheels I am looking at look really good with the wider wheel in the back.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Smile Staggered

I have a Staggered set of 22's on my Mustang GT, I love it, they are great looking, on my Camaro 2010 it is Not staggered 22's. When I had my Jag, I did not get staggered. You have to check with manufactorer or sales company of wheels to find out if the style comes in staggered fitiments, not all wheel do, also get the pros to tell you which mix set sizes work best. Not all mixes look right or drive right, tire types do make a difference, on my Camaro, I have Dunlap, on my Mustang GT, I have Nexxen, both types feel excellant. With staggered, it's more work cause you can't rotate, but the look is OFF the chain (excellant). Tire brands also make a difference. Choose your wheel company carefully, research them alot before picking, look for the comapany that has the most, smartest knowledge. I'd show you pics but I don't have those cars on this profile.

Depends on what you want. I think the wide look of my rear tires is great, but I can't rotate my tires if needed, so I go through 2 sets of rears to 1 set of fronts.

The dealer said he has a customer with 22's and that they dont rub but I am not really buying it, besides I dont want to go with lower than 35 profile (unless i get wider tires on the back then 30)

What do yall think of Gianelle Spidero, Giovanna Kilis, Giovanna Martuni or Ace Convex? Im thinking if I have a "deep or dish" style wheel then I will go staggered, if not then same all around.

Me personally from those 4 I like the Giovanna Martuni. Then again wheels are like choosing between boxers and briefs. Everyone can give you opinions, but what are you going to be comfortable wearing everyday.

Yeap your right! I am terribly confused, I may have to do some photoshops to make a final choice. The more I look the more I confuse myself! Today I saw some DUB Cognac wheels in black that look sorta similar to the XFR wheels, any opinions on those?

Talking Staggered

When I first looked at the idea about getting 22's, I was skeptical too, did not think they would be comfortable, did not think they would ride smooth, thought the worst. A good dealer told me, not to worry, they would put the best fitting on. I got the regular (Non-Staggered) on the Camaro first, Loved them, they were excellant feel, comfortable, non-rubbing. So then weeks later, I went to get the Mustang done, with the Staggered style I wanted, The tires were different Brand because the Dunlap did not come in the Staggered fitiment I needed, but they were excellant also, feels better that original, absolutily no problems whatsoever. It is important to ask questions, be skeptical, and yes not every dealer knows all the answers, but some are smart and knowledgable, so you can trust some, ask them from "what car do they know of that the size works, what size, and what tires". See how you feel with those answers. Shoot me some pics of your car.

Default 22's?

Anyone else running 22's? 245/30/22 or 255/30/22? do I have to be "that" careful on potholes/bumps?

It all depends on the tire. I put 255/30/22 Falken's with Bentley fitment staggered wheels on my wife's VW van. She complains about the ride being too harsh only when I put the 16's on for winter. The 22s ride better than the 16s in other words.

Talking Speedbumps/potholes

This is the sizes that i'm running on my GT. 245/30/22 - F, 295/25/22 - R. Not one single problem at all, With that being said, let me say this first and formost, You should always be causcious of POTHOLES - ALWAYS, SPEEDBUMPS - not soo much a problem, but go over them SLOW. You should not have any problems. The wheels are comfortable and smooth, but as I said before, Tire brands do matter.

"Sosoguju" I agree with you on the 22, they will look excellant in that last wheel type, you picked out that (BLK. % Silver), looks good. Earlier I gave you my wheel sizes on one of my cars, this is the other car's sizes 265/35/22, rides excellant also, no problems at all.

Default Photoshop

OK so after much loss of sleep and talking to friends with 22's and people at wheel and tire shops I have finally decided to stick with 20's! Texas roads are really bad at times and I can really see myself just wanting to drive the car a "little bit too fast" over some construction zone road and busting a tire out/bending a rim! I have actually blown a 35 profile tire on my own street!

Sooooo.... now that my dream has been killed I am debating on which wheels (yes still!) I really like the Ace Executive but I keep thinking the lip will make the wheel look smaller (correct me if I am wrong). Here are some examples:

The finalists are Giovanna Kilis, Ace Convex (kinda plain?), Lexani CVX-55 (looks like the Vossen VVS-CV1)

HELP!!

BTW this is my car (I have also just added the chrome side vents):

Ace Convex is the only one above which looks decent, but it may be because of the BMW fitment (don't like the car, the wheel spacing is spot on). Offsets of the rest look too high in general.

I should have mentioned that the last 2 pics of the Lexani are PhotoShop'd to give an idea, they r a concave design wheel (even the kilis are concave slightly)

Finally!! Took forever to get the wheels and tires in... had the rears custom drilled because I wanted the 10" on the back with the deeper "concave" look. I ended up going with the Hankook Ventus V12 tires as they have good reviews on here and other forums, would have done Continental DWS but they are on back order for 2 months!!

They may not be everyone's "cup of tea" but I wanted something with the concave vs lip and also something that not everyone has...
