Default 1 down, 3 to go (i.e., need a new wheel...)

So I've had a slow leak in one of my wheels for a while now...

I go out Monday and see the tire is pretty low so I go to the gas station and
blow it up to about 40lbs. Yesterday morning I go and and see that it is flat as a pancake. I decide the situation is graver than I thought so I put the spare on and get it to my regular tire dealer. Well he replaces both tires (they were down to the wear bars anyway) and I go to pick it up in the afternoon. Only problem, one of the new tires was now flat as a pancake. He keeps it over night.

This morning he calls and tells me the wheel has a small crack and is not repairable but that he will start looking for a reman wheel. Ok go for it.

I check Ebay and see some CAYMAN wheels (turns out that's the name of the wheel, good to know... ;-) listed for around $240. So ok, he's going to be able to locate a wheel for me.

But I hate low profile tires and large diameter alloy wheels!!!

Just thought I share, thanks... ;-)

Why not if you dont like the 18s go for a 17, and if you like steel wheels have I got a deal for you on 16" steel wheels, they really won't come any uglier if that's what floats your boat. Seriously though, get some 17s, you can fleabay your 18s and make a profit.

I happen to be selling a set of 17's right now...whaddya know...

Of course, that would mean you'd have to buy another set of tires.

Actually my car came with the 17" CAYMAN-style wheels. Obviously, I would have destroyed 18"s long ago... =\-|

Tire dealer called and told me that they found a "reman" wheel for $200 (included my old one as a "core"). Not too bad. Will be here early next week.

Still think'n about 14" steel wheels and 80-series tires (not... ;-)

A reman wheel huh....well I hope it is a good one for that much money - suggest you ask him to inspect it carefully when it arrives and make sure it is true.

Definitely pony up for a Road Force balancing too.

Ya, thanks, the tire dealer will stand behind the wheel if there are any problems. That's one of the advantages of a brick_and_mortar place v.s., ebay, etc. A physical presence that provides service.
