I am pretty sure that if the car only smokes for a little bit after sitting then it is the valve seals. If you let the car idle for 15 mins then take off, do you get the same blue puff of smoke? If so then it is probably the valve seals.

I can't see removing the cams taking more than 6 hours. The whole job can probably be done in a day by an experienced tech, or over a weekend by a mechanically inclined person.

Is there a reason to do this or wait til its a bigger problem? If it were necessary to do every single cop car or old persons car would need this as they all blow out smoke...

I was gonna say about the PCV valve. 2002 had bad ones, but it was more of a huge cloud of smoke when you took off. I remember changing one and filled up the whole street with smoke when I went driving it because of all the oil in the intake manifold....lol
