tranny seems to run great driving forward. no hard shifts or anything. nice and strong. but throw it in reverse and it seems not to catch reverse or something. nothing happens but reving the engine. wondering if anyone is familiar and can help out.

There is a good example already on the forum about the reverse clutches going out and how to replace them. Check the archives.

i had the same issue last night. i have searched for "reverse clutches" on this site, but found nothing.

does anyone have any other suggestions?

 

Don't know what to tell you on where to find it but some time back I stumbled upon a write up complete with pictures detailing how to change the reverse clutch packs with the trans in the car. It's there somewhere.

on early x-t, jag had a tsb about the reverse clutch lip seal getting torn and the vehicle not having reverse anymore. jaguar was just replacing the whole trans if your vehicle fit in the vin range.

 

Ok I got this car 1 owner car was siting for a year 90k great but no reverse so I said ill take it put a new tranny in it didnt even grt it check just did It hit a trans with good miles gir 700 1 year warranty got the new trans I bought in soo mind u I bought the car for 1500 cash 700 in trans and 400 to put in ok so it hig out in didnt fix it so now im stuvk please somebody has to have a answer neef help...
