Default 2003 X-Type Engine Lugging

I originally posted this in the SW regional forum(still learning my way around). My 2003 X-Type 3.0 lugs when I step hard on the gas from a complete stop. If I back off the pedal, it goes away. At speed, I can step hard with no problems. I am using premium gas and getting no codes. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum mbratton,

Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST section and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice on posting to the forum.

I'm sure the resident experts here will help you out with the engine issue. First question is likely to be whether you've had the codes read. If so, it's a good idea to post them here. The more detail you give, the better the answers you'll get.

Graham

Looking through the forum I learned a few things. Number #1 is the "No Cruise Available" might be a signal of my problem. Apparently the computer will cut off the gas at 3000 RPM, thus the lugging. The recommendation was to clean out the throttlebody with a spray cleaner, I will try this tomorrow.

The thread mentioned a "code reader". What is that and do I need one?

mbratton - Your engine light should be on, if there are any serious issues. The "no cruise available" is a different light. This shows up as a message.

Sounds like you throttle body and the injectors just need a little cleaning. Use the proper cleaner for the throttle body and put a quality fuel injector cleaner in the tank.

A "code reader" is a hand held device to used to read the car's computer. Most auto supply stores will read your car's computer for free. If YOU are planning completing all of your Jaguar issues in the future, then yes get one. These can be found on eBay. Just don't buy the cheap one.

I went the route with the throttle body cleaner and all is well. I appreciate the input.

Have the gas pedal system checked. Recently found out this was the problem with my car.
