I've been involved with the XK-8/XKR forum for a few years now, recently purchased a 2006 X-Type Wagon and am looking for a PDF of the Owner's Manual or an original hard copy. In searching this forum, I found a response to this request a few years back, but the link didn't work. Any suggestions on how to find this would be greatly appreciated.
max224, PM me your address and I will send you the PDF files. I believe the files are also back in the one of the stickies at the top of the X-Type section.
I hope I am not hijacking your thread but I have never seen the owners manual or the sales brochure before and I am curious about my 2006 X-Type. The owner's manual says the 2006 X-Type has a 3.0L engine. The sales brochure shows all X-Types available in 2006 as 3.0L engines. My 2006 X-Type has a 3.0 badge on the rear. Under the hood there is an EPA required sticker that says the car is a 2.5L so I have always assumed I had a 2.5L.
Outside the US, many countries tax a car based on engine displacement in 0.1L increments, so automakers design engines just below these 0.1L tax thresholds.
For our X-Types:
2.0L diesel in reality is 1.998L
2.1L petrol in reality is 2.099L
2.2L diesel in reality is 2.198L
2.5L petrol in reality is 2.495L
3.0L petrol in reality is 2.967L
Just wondering out loud if someone with a 3.0L engine attempted to pay 2.5L tax rates?
Oops...I got caught up in the 2006 talk and forgot mine is a 2005 model year. I checked my VIN at the NHTSA website and it says I have a 3.0L engine and it has the 3.0 badge so I am still confused.
Vin 1st letter: S indicates made in England?
VIN 4th digit: A
Vin 11th: W
1st 3 characters: SAJ = Jaguar
4th character: A = "Rest of World" for safety features, i.e., not US
11th character: W = 3.0L V6 Petrol
.
Any chance that crossmember with the 2.5L sticker is from a donor car, to repair a front-end collision of your 3.0L X-Type?
I have no idea about the provenance of the car, I suppose the crossmember with sticker could be from a donor. Is there any ID number on the engine that would shed more light?
I guess for now I believe the VIN, 3.0L from Halewood. I better change my signature on this forum.
Out of curiosity, the VIN for the car is print in 3 locations (actually more, but the others are purposely not available to the general public as these are meant for vehicle recovery if a vehicle is suspected of being stolen). The 4 locations are:
1) left side of the instrument cluster, at the base of windshield
2) in the driver's door on the factory sticker stating build date, color, etc
3) in the truck/boot on the right side, under the carpeting, near the wheel well.
The VIN on the windshield matches the one on the door and matches the title and the bill of sale and the previous owner's bill of sale when he bought it. I don't see any VIN in the back. I have the wagon, on the right side in the way back is the subwoofer. I pulled the trim panel off that and didn't see any VIN. I did see the wiring harness running through there wrapped in bubble wrap which is a little horrifying. I pulled out the spare and no sign of a VIN in there either.
