Default 2009 X Type estate TCM location

HI everyone, first post on the forum, Have an issue with the gearbox fail yellow warning, OBD faults are U 0001 (High speed CAN bus) and P 0860 Gear shift module fail) problems reported on the forum have been attributed to moisture at the TCM socket and within the unit, with this in mind have been researching the location of the transmission control unit on the X type, various sources describe the location as being behind the passenger fuse box and located under the bracket that supports the rain module, on the Sovereign estate there is nothing here! I'm at a loss where to find it. Car is 2.2l diesel auto Sovereign estate, Oct 2009, any advice would be gratefully received, many thanks

You don't list in your post if you have the 5 speed or 6 speed so I am assuming 6 speed based on the model year. Attached is a blowup for the TCM location. I have also attached the definition out of the shop manual for your code. Sounds like a damaged wire.

Thank you for your reply, you are quite right it is a 6 speed box, should have realised earlier posts referred to 5 speed trans. Checked the TCM connector, no moisture and pins clean, checked socket on J gate module, also ok, cleaned both no effect.
As well as the amber gearbox fault indication no gear selection led's are working however the car drives fine, if, as you suspect, it's a damaged wire I shall have to try to identify the wiring looms and sockets, will update if and when any good news. Vern many thanks again.

If your indicator lights for gear position are not working it is possible your cable is out of adjustment and the and the switches are not contacting correctly for the electronics even though the gear is selected.
Follow the link below to the "How to" and scroll thru and you can download the X-type shop manual.

Update on progress? Checked out dtc's P 0860 - 086013 checked wiring betweem TCM and GSM, checked socket and plug connections and cleaned same, checked power supplies and grounds all ok, it all points to internal problem with the gear selector module. No leds working and when in sport mode gear shift has no effect, in auto runs fine with good shifts and kick down. Spoke to the Ford main dealer who tells me although the running gear is ford the softwear is Jaguar and they can't help! Unless anyone has any further advice it looks as if I shall have to bite the bullet and give it to the ' Experts!' thanks for the help and Happy Easter to all.

If the LED's are not lighting on the shifter tower I would suspect that the problem is in the tower. If you go to the jagrepair, link below, you can scroll down to the Jaguar Spec book section. If you download each you will have a complete workshop manual.

Default Is it a Ford? is it a Jaguar?

Hi, once again, thanks to Vern for the info. Downloaded the guide for 2009 x type, however it appears to be titled 2007 for vin numbers J 04 on, the transmission diagrams refer to the earlier box. I located the 2009 Xtype electrical guide for vin J 40142 on, this displays a later wiring arrangement which I think applies to my car, Oct 2009 vin J 57644.
I agree it looks like a Gear select module problem so probably need deep pockets. As a point of interest the later X Types are based on the UK Ford Mondeo chassis so I had a chat with my local Ford main dealer Service Manager who said they would be unable to help as although the parts are Ford the software and programming is Jaguar and they don't have the necessary equipment to service them, thanks for taking the trouble to help, many thanks, will update when I have a solution.
