ABS Light ---Leads to Check Engine Light
Its driving me nuts the ABS light comes on if i turn to the right, left, backup, brake suddenly. If I continue driving and don't turn off the car the check engine light will kick in, If after the ABS light comes on and I shut off the car and restart the ABS turns off and no check engine light.
I wouldn't have been bothered by it, if it was just the ABS light, but eventually it triggers the check engine light. I need to get my car smogged this year and I am worried it wont pass smog because of the ABS light triggering the check engine light when the guy backs up into the smog machine. (I live in California)
I took my car to the mechanic (British Car Services in Sacramento California) they replaced the front wheel sensor and said that was the issue according to Faults, but the issue still persist.
Does anyone have any ideas or recommendation? My car is a great car if it wasn't for the ABS light coming on all the time, and then triggering the check engine light.
My car is a 2003 Jaguar X type 2.5, Tires are all NEW since Feb 2016, Braked were changed last year.
I noticed the issue started coming up when I took a trip to san francisco and went down the steep hills . Car has been acting funny ever since.

Have the codes read and post them so we can take a look at what your problem might be. The x-type is known to have issues with the solder joints inside the abs module and act up do to engine heat.
There are numerous threads on repairing the ABS module solder joints. The module fault will also cause it to set the Check Engine light. If the garage reads it and it isn't setting a code for the abs then repair or replacement of the module will probably be the cure. You need to be sure that the wheel sensors are clean, the reluctors are intact and the cables are in good condition.
