I am the original owner of an 02 X-type and last summer the air conditioner was blowing hot on the drivers side and cool on the passenger side. The mechanic informed me that the blend door actuator was broken and they'd have to remove the whole dashboard to replace it. $1000.00 U.S.
Well luckily I have another beater car and it's AC works fine. I kind of gave up but then decided to research this issue. I found a post here from 2013 about a similar issue but it didn't resolve the issue.
It said that the actuators were behind the glove box but I don't know which one(s) need to be replaced.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You may be over analyzing. It sounds like your system is low on refrigerant. I would take it to a good a/c shop and have them check it out. Low refrigerant will cause no cooling on drivers side.
Yes, that symptom is one of the first symptoms of low refrigerant charge on these cars...has the system ever been recharged (a periodic recharge is not a repair...it is a normal part of maintenance and at 17 years of age the system is begging for a recharge if it has not been done!).
Not overanalyzing.... refrigerant is fine, also did a pressure test and it's fine.
I always keep on top of maintenance so as to avoid common issues.
I just found another thread that deals with this issue so it may resolve the problem.

I've been using the heater for about a week, but it's now starting to do the same thing. I can run the heater for 30 minutes or so and then it'll shut off for a couple hours. When it eventually resets, the fan would turn on for a few minutes despite the control panel resetting and snaptubevidmatenot showing anything as on.
