what do you mean the airbag light is on? so you mean that little light on the airbag itself on the wood trim or some other light on the dash? that light goes off to show that the airbag is off. I believe the x types had some sensor that detects the weight of the passenger to see if an airbag should be on or off. If the light is on when you have a child in the front seat everything is in order. but if the light is still on when you have a 150 pound man in the seat then you have a problem. try to do some more research about it by using the search function.

Most aftermarket scanners will not be able to access air bag codes on your Jag. you could try calling some local shops and see if they may be able to do it. If you can find a European car specialist that may be your best bet if you're dealerphobic.

Default Knee bolster

If the code is correct that would be the knee bolster air bag. I don't think I have ever seen a problem with the knee bolster on any X-Type. The bolster is the panel right below the steering column where the drivers knees would be. That panel is an airbag. The only problems I have seen are disconnected when installing accessories and forgeting to reconnect.
