Airbag Trouble Code 16
I have searched the forums and the interwebs for an answer, but the best I could come up with is "it may not be this" and "check all the connectors".
Since the day we bought the 02 X, the little yellow error light has swapped being on back and forth from the drivers side to the passengers side light without any apparent rythme or reason.
We fixed the rather bright one on the passengers side with a small piece of black tape.
I occurred to me that the light on the drivers side was flashing intermittently, and low and behold - when I counted the blinks, it was a damned code! One - pause - six.
Nothing in my searches reveals just what this code signifies, other than a 450 mile trip to the Jag dealer and service work. I am aware that only Jag dealers have the goodies to reflash the airbag electronics, but I am hoping maybe someone can head me off into the right direction on a quick and easy down and dirty home fix that does not include covering the bulb with tape.
Ideas? Do you know what the 1 - 6 code signifies?
Thank you in advance for the time and info!

Bruce, first off, if you watch the passenger side air bag, the light will only light if someone is sitting in it. So, it is very possible that the light will not always light when you start the car. Now, if the same person is sitting in the seat and the light does different things, then that is reason for alarm.
As for the code 16 meaning, that is saying that it is seeing a fault with the circuitry for the passenger airbag (ie, one of the wires feeding the passenger air bag is shorted to ground). About the only way that you will find this is to hand over hand the wiring, paying special attention to where the wires are held in place or where the pass near metal.
If you need assistance is getting the airbag out, let me know. You don't simply just grab the airbag and remove it. There is a special procedure you should follow to remove it.
