Default Amp trigger?

I installed a nice double din touch screen radio today, unfortunately the factory amp is not turning on now, so no sound at all. Has anyone found a good solution to turn on the factory amp with an aftermarket radio?
I think that the original head unit used a fiber optic signal to trigger the factory amp, but not sure.

Thanks. Does the signal originate with the radio head umit? If not, it looks as if I could simply loop the radio head unit out of the fiber optic circuit?

The head unit should send both an electrical signal as well as an optic signal that is 'looped' back to the head unit.
