Any way to hook up sub/amp with alpine system
04 X-type w/ Alpine system.
I really don't want to get rid of the stock system as it has navigation and A/C controls, etc.
Is there a way to tap into the stock system? I could probably find the remote wire testing each one, my main concern would be the RCA wires. Anyone have a write up?

i dont have a write up, but had an rca converter in my car before upgrading to a different stereo. You can buy them at any electronic store like bestbuy or circuitcity. When mine was installed, it was connected to the rear left speaker wire right under the jag stereo, soif you dot have a remote to control the bass, you can use the adjustment for whichever speaker wire u decide to tap in to. as for the sound quality, it sounded really good. after gettina custom stereo, there wasnt much improvement, as it already sounded good.

Looks like I have my work cut out for me! I just got the car so I can't afford a system right now.
Once I get into getting it installed I will take pictures of the whole install and share it with you guys!

Trying to hook up the rca connector to the back of my factory headunit. I have an 2002 x type with the non premium system. Can anybody help with speaker wire colours and also the positive and negative?

My understanding is that you are trying to hook up a amp and sub without loosing you factory radio. Well you can get a signal processor and that will give you all the connect to hook up the amp and sub and it will boost and clean up you signal/pre volt output. I know rocksford Fosgate make a 3sixty and a 3sixty.2 and jl make the clean sweep and that is just a few but these will help you to keep your factory radio and get the output like you have an aftermarket radio without changing your head unit. I don't think rocksford make the 3 sixty anymore but they do sell the 3sixty.2 which is the updrade to the 3sixty. I got one in my s type and it is what you need. you can google it or ebay got them for the cheapest. the 3sixty.2 will let you keep your steering wheel control and navigation it is one of the best on the market right.

I wanted to use just an ordinary RCA convertor that wires up to the back of the system and alllows the use of phono cables. An idea on what the speaker colours are and negatives and positives?
