Default Anyone else heard anything about the new x type version?

While I was at the dealership, not long ago, one guy said jag is coming out with a new car called the xe I think?
It's supposed to be a new version of the x type, being that it'll be priced with the BMW 3 series and Mercedes c class.
Has anyone else heard about it? That's all the info I know

jarrod, what you want to know about the car? I got to go to London to see the world premiere of the car and I got "back stage access" to all the jaguar engineers and marketing people about the car.

If you look a few lines above where you go in for all the X-Type info, there is a section on the new XE. You are correct in that it is a BMW 3 series/Audi A4 competitor. Is it going to have the leather dash and all the other bells and whistles that the XJ/XK have. By no means. It isn't a car of that caliber. Kinda like the 3 series isn't on par with the 5 series or the 7 series nor is the A4 on par with the A8. What you are going to get is essentially a 4 door F-Type. It is sharing a lot of the same suspension components and under pinnings as the F-Type, but it will have 4 doors.

For you, you can anticipate seeing the car in person around March 2016. I am sure the ordering process is going to start around the 1st of the year, possibly earlier.

Ask away. I will be checking back here for any questions you may have or you can find tons of information over in the XE section that may answer most of your questions. If you look, I did a big write up of the XE event and included a bunch of pictures of the car and also the cut away car that they had.

That's awesome you got to see that. How's it look in person?
I'm sure I'll see a few where I live. I drive by F-types quite often. I just drove by a Rolls Royce today, though I think they look stupid.
I just can't wait to see a list of all the features and what engines well get.

jarrod, take a look in my gallery. There are lots of pics of the car in both a production look and also in a cutaway version.

As for looks, it still has the XJ look, but in a smaller package. So, looks wise, it is easy to see the "family resemblance". As for the interior, it will be the same sort of standard that the X-Type is to the XJ. The XE is going to be downplayed a lot in the trim standards as compared to the XJ/XF to keep the costs down.

I think the XE is going to be a big seller. Am I going to buy one? Honestly, I am not because I am looking to make the step up, not make a lateral move. So, I am looking most likely at a newer XJ vice a brand new XE.

It's a good looking car though. I'd look into one if I could. But my other car is a bit pricey. So I'm not getting anything new for a while.
Your HID upgrade album reminds me to ask. About how expensive is it to do? If I do the work myself.

jarrod, not to sound silly, but how long do you want them to last? You can do it for around $40. But, I have found that these kits only tend to last about a year or so before atleast 1 side goes out on you due to the ballast failing. So, I would recommend spending about $70 and going with your favorite color 35W (NOT 50/55W!!!!!) HID bulb and then getting yourself some Maxlux ballasts. Since I have started using those, haven't had an issue with a single one of my HID kits. Yes, they are a bit more pricey than the kits you get off of e-bay, but the fact of not having issues is well worth the money. The only thing I will caution you on is that HID bulbs come with 2 different style plugs. So, when you are getting the bulbs and ballasts, make sure they have the same style plugs.

Spending a little more at first saves money down the road.
Thanks for the info. Once I decide to pick these up, I'm sure I'll have a few questions for you.
