AWD in reverse?
I have been told by an ex-X-Type owner that the AWD only works going forward. Since it has not snowed here last winter I had no chance to test the therory.
I'm just wondering I don't know that this means anything as long as the car goes forward I'm good
Cheers

>the handbrake trick...
Can you say a little more about that trick?
If the wheels are spinning when do you pull up on the E-Brake, while the
wheels are spinning or before stepping on the gas?

What year is your Jag?
After 2004 they switched to an open differential setup that was pretty much useless. It wouldn't transfer power to the front wheels unless you pulled the ebrake creating resistance in the rear and forcing the power to the front.
Before 2004 there was a much better performing (althought reliability was questionable) viscous coupling. Power would transfer between axles naturally in this setup.

OK thanks Guys that clears it up er sort of.........
My X-Type is a 2006 so it suffers from the new transfer case. I'm happy to know there is a trick if I ever park up to a snowy cliff there is a way out.
Cheers
