Default Battery disconnection help

Hi i think my battery on my 2001 x Type is due for a change but before i do that i just want to know what i have to reset after disconnecting the old battery and connecting the new one. I think the power windows need to be reset what else? and how to do them thanks.

sibu999, The windows are really the only thing that you will have to reset other than maybe your radio time and favorite stations. Also keep in mind that the first drive after the new battery should involve some semi low speed (35ish MPH) runs. They should have some stops and coasts in there too. This helps the computer learn what it needs to do to adapt the car to how you drive. About 5 miles of this is ideal.

As for the windows, all you do is operate one window at a time, roll it all the way down by holding the button. Once the window reaches the full down position, continue holding the button in the down position for another 3-5 seconds. Release. Now, hold the button in the up position until the window is closed. Continue holding the button in the up position for an additional 3-5 seconds. Repeat for the other windows.

One other tidbit of information that you may want handy is the 4 character code for the radio. Sometimes the radio will ask for the code, sometimes it won't. If it asks for the code and you don't input it, then the radio is locked and you won't be able to do anything with it until the code is entered.
