turn on your car eject your nav disk and inset your burnt disk
remove your keys for 30 seconds
start your car and hopefully after 10-15 mins all will be good

Fellow Jaguar'ers, I am desperate.

After repeated downloads, burns, and attempted boots, I am nowhere further.

Would anyone be willing to sell their boot DVD? I would be pleased to pay you a premium over postage.

Great Karma in this forum and this thread in particular.

The basic software does NOT have to be on a double sided DVD. Yes, it takes 5-15 minutes of being in the DVD player to update. My 2006 XJ8 screen was dead, no buttons would work, etc. Putting the right Loading.KWI in the DVD saved my butt.
However, after talking with long time Jag mechanic, not all Loading.KWI are the same. They very by model and year and software version. Plus, if you have a full NAV DVD, with the Loading.kwi recovery file, this can also recover your system.
The key is that the Loading.kwi must be a recovery file, not just an update file...very very important. And they are almost the same size file for my car (7.03MB vs 7.1MB). So, if you use the wrong file, you may - or may not - brick your DVD and/or head/climate control hardware. Dealers may, or may not, have the specific recovery CD/DVD for your vehicle.

I still say that anyone with this problem should see my posts #162 & 181 (pages 9 & 10). I think the money spent was well worth what I got and it was fixed.

Default 03 X-Type, failed update

Got the same blank screen as listed here over and over.

i have a 2012 update disk, everything was going fine until a few minutes into the update the LCD under the screen started flashing 51/52

I left the car for 2 hours with no change, so reluctantly I turned the car off, after recharging the battery I powered it back up and got the common 50/51 error

I have tried burning the loading file to a CD-R, DVD+R and DVD-RW

I have disconnected the battery over night on each occasion and tried the disc.

i have tried just leaving it and driving it for 30-40 mins

Does any one have any ideas?

Im in North West UK if anyone has any experience, I've had a look on the uk forums and will be posting a message on there as well.

Sounds really bad. Maybe a bad update disc?

Even dealers tend not to know how to fix other than a new unit.

Copy the loading.kwi file from your 2012 disk onto your computer and just burn that at the slowest speed and try that.
I had great success burning as a data disc with roxio dvd creator

good luck !!!

I finaly got my screen working again.

I used poweriso (free) to write the loading.kwi file onto a Verbatim CD-R
After many attempts to get this to work, this was the one that did it.

I left the car overnight with the CD in the drive, battery connected.
I unlocked and sat in the car and waited 5 mins (dont know if this helped or not)
I turned the key so that the temperature screen lit up, but not the ignition
I sat there and made a phone call that lasted about 10mins, towards the end, the Jaguar leaper image displayed.
From what I can remember, the 50/51 error didnt show while it was loading the file.
