Default Buzzing sound

I wa wondering if anyone else has a buzzing noise when they turn off their car and sit in it. Sounds like its coming from the instrument cluster..also I noticed my electronic screen on the instrument cluster flickers sometimes like its going to die out, is that a warning sign of anything?

Thanks,
James

I got the same issue as well, unfortunately the screen is blank now.. It started to go out on hot days, flickering all over the place like it was matrix coding (not really lol) and finally its out. The buzzing noise was happening before I had screen issues though.

the buzzing is normal...it is a small fan behind the little square vent to the right of the steering wheel.
It is to do with the heating/cooling and runs for about 10 mins after the engine is shut down.
I read a post where someone replaced theirs with a new unit and the buzzing stopped. Though for "most" of us it is normal

Fezz I'm sure it's not too difficult and with a new instrument cluster and these awesome people on the Jaguae form, you'd be able to get a new one installed to get a new screen that works.

I was wondering what that little mini vent was to the right of my steering wheel..I've messed with it before but didn't know it was a fan!

Yeah don't think it would be too difficult to replace, though I do find it odd that it works on cooler days than the hot days it goes all beserk. You know what that "ext #" means on the top right corner of the screen?

The little fan unit behind the small square grill sucks in cabin air to measure its temperature for the climate control. It starts as you unlock the car to get a headstart in getting its sensor to temperature before you start the engine/climate control. To start at that time, it has to be connected to the battery saver relay and as that stays on for a while after you turn off, the fan also runs then, when it helps the climate control module to decide where to position the air flaps to minimize windscreen misting while the car is left parked. The system is more sophisticated than most of us realise!
The 'Ext' reading is the outside temperature measured by the sensor behind the front grill opening.

I know this is off topic, but - for a new instrument cluster, would that mean replacing the whole instrument section (whole top half above the radio section) or some sort of chip/module inside the instrument?

There is a form related to the instrument cluster somewhere on these forms it goes into detail you have to have the information retrieved off the one inside your car and inputted into the new one, the jaguar dealer has to do this. If you don't do it this way the car won't start with the new cluster installed without the old cluster information uploaded to it.
