Default Can anyone identify this Part? Doesnt look like my TC...

I'm in need of a TC, this one on ebay states its for my car but it definately doesnt look like mine. Is it maybe from an 04-06 model? if so would that fit in an 02? thanks

Matl, keep in mind that you are looking at it from the top. Granted, looking at the pic, I don't see the fill hole though. So, I would venture to guess that he has a generic picture of a transfer case. I think the guy selling it is a little mis-informed as he is calling the transfer case "4x4". There is a slight difference between 4x4 and AWD. Unless that is the only one you can find, I would see what other ones are out there. If you do end up buying it, I would write the seller a very specific e-mail asking to make sure that the transfer case he is selling is for an 02 Jag as the one in the picture is not from a Jag and that if the one he has is not the correct one, that the seller will pay for the return shipping and give you a 100% return of your money. If they will agree to that, then should things go south on you, you have a leg to stand on. If they are sure that the transfer case they are selling came out of a Jag, then they will have no problems agreeing to that.

Good point, thanks for the info Thermo, I will write them an email to get more info. I would usually steer away from sketchy listings but the price is almost half of what the rest are asking (most likely a reason). I need to make up my mind soon though as the car is at the shop TC out and waiting on my say. At the moment i've found a used one with 69k for 750 locally or the dealer will sell me a new one for 1700... hard to justify considering book on my car is 6k

Default Not a transfercase

The picture that came up when I clicked on the E-bay link was a rear differential, not a transfercase but the listing does say transfercase.

Good catch..I wasn't gonna say anything..But I seen it too.

I'd be leary of a part that isn't properly represented before I buy it..
