Default Can't Get Into the Boot!

FOBs have been troublesome since day one, and now neither one of them will allow access to the trunk. I can't get in there!

Is there a quick release through the rear seat backs? If there is, I cannot find any.

I can't take the car anywhere in this condition without access to the spare tire.

Any thoughts?

I suggest that you re-set the key fobs. I did mine in the supermarket parking lot yesterday when my fob started acting up. Do a search in here for the proceedure. Very simple.

Thanks, Chopper, but I've done it a number of times. Doesn't seem to always work. I will try it again, though. Thanks for your reply.

The thing is, the one transmitter will unlock and lock the doors, but seems to have no effect on the trunk. Makes me think it's the trunk latch/lock itself.

Bought a third transmitter from another member here, and it arrived in the mail just 30 minutes ago. Did the learn while key was in the ignition, and it opens and closes EVERYTHING! Works FAR BETTER than the two that came with my car. Go figure ...

BTW, tried to relearn with the better of the two of my transmitters, and it works only intermittently.

It's a new battery! Anybody else have these transmitter problems?

Sounds like the buttons on your original fobs are just worn out.

You do know you can just press the green "growler" button on the boot to open it, right?
The doors do need to be unlocked.

On the 2004.5 and up the trunk release button is "hidden" under the lip of the chrome trim, between the license plate illumination lights. I didn't know it was there until I read the manual.

I like the growler button on my XJ-6 better.

The "growler" button did not work. I pressed it several times. It wouldn't depress ... as if it was locked. Not sure if it needs lube or needs replacing or if the transmitter is just on its way out.

Believe me, since I've owned the car (a full two weeks plus now), I've had numerous problems with these transmitters not unlocking the trunk or anything else. Never had this happen on any other vehicle I've owned.

Went out there this morning, now the new transmitter won't do anything, and the old one seems to work just fine.

This is ridiculous.
