I don't think they made X-Types in '53....XKs, yes. For those of us who only partially understand the British mind and definitely do not understand the British car registration system, it would be helpful to state the model year of the Jaguar, rather than the registration number/letter. It is absolutely impenetrable for those of us who like our toast buttered while hot. I can tell you the difference between a 2002 X-Type and a 2005, but I haven't a clue what year a 53-reg car is.
Now, what exactly is wrong with the key fob? have you replaced the battery? is it that some of the buttons do not work (sometimes a bit of wd40 on the button will free it) or....?

Almost unbelievably complicated...with no particular advantage. And a "53 reg". while telling those-in-the-know that this is a car registered in the second half of 2003, does NOT tell us what model year it is.
Jaguar's normal model year change-over is in June; a car with a "53" registration, if I have understood properly, could be a car built in May (that is, a 2003 model) or it could be a car built in July (that is, a 2004 model) - because the build date and the registration date can be quite different. For the purposes of this list what is important is the model year, not the point at which the car was registered. And we still have not answered the question.
I still prefer my toast buttered hot out of the toaster.

Default model year

the model year does not affect the working of the key fob, stop being pedantic and just help with the question.

they key fob buttons can go faulty and need to be replaced, a service is offered for this from people advertising on eb**. replacement fobs can be purchased on the same site but would need to be programmed with the sdd software.the uk and usa versions use different frequency's. the transducer in the key part can be matched to the car if you have two units also using the SDD software.
