Default Code Reader

Looking for recommendations for a good code reader. Everyone says "just run down to Advanced Auto and they'll read/reset for free." Well, AA is a 30 mile trip from here. Would rather have my own if possible.

THANKS!!!

ekatspm, I have the Actron 9125. It is the baseline model and only runs about $70. But, it will do the engine codes. You really need to ask yourself if you are wanting to spend money to get other codes/data. Some of the code readers out there will tell you what the body computer is doing, tranny computer, real time data, etc. But, as you can imagine, as you start getting more information coming your way, the more that it is going to cost. So, how much are you willing to spend and what information would you like to see?

Default currently comparing...

Thanks, guys. Today I've been looking at both the Actron Autoscanner Plus and the Innova 3130. I liked the Autoscanner Plus over the 1996 to have access to live data which may be nice but have heard good things from everyone on Actron in general. Both are about $130 around here and in stock.

I do like the pricetag on the 1996 better though... as you say Thermo, want more pay more...

Obviously didn't have enough caffeine this morning when typing - my mind thinking 9125, fingers typing 1996...

After some more searching, I just ordered the Innova 3130. Walmart has it for $127 w/free to-store shipping or $.97 to-home shipping which is a steal compared to most other prices...

A word on the $99 ABS update for the Innova 3130--its only for Ford, GM and Chrysler.
