Default Converting fog lenses

I don't know if this has been covered before or not, but I recently pulled the fog lights off of my car (while converting the front of my car over to the Sport model look) and saw that the fog light lenses were fogged. It looks like this was done at the factory as there is a nice ring around the side of the glass from where it looks like it was masked off for a blasting operation. Well, I sat down with some sand paper (400 grit, 1200 grit and 2000 grit) and removed all the sand blasted area and then gave the glass a final sealant coat with some clear. Guess what, I now have clear lens fogs. The fogs are slightly brighter now which is nice.

If people are interested, I will post up a few pics of what the car looks like before and after.

Sorry for no really good before pics, but you can look at your own cars for the before. The first pic is the after of the fog lights. You will want to do most of the sanding with the 400 grit sandpaper. Once you get into the 1200 grit and 2000 grit, things slow to a crawl.

P.S. For those interested in the "Sport" conversion I am doing, the second pic is of the front end. Haven't completed the rear yet.

Well.....my 05's were nice and clear...till i put about 40K miles of road rash on them....lol
I think they are supposed to be clear...from the factory...wear and tear of road debris kinda dulls them a bit i think.

KA3AX, I am in Norfolk. If you need help with something, just hollar. I am always working on vehicles and am not afraid to tear into our cars. I helped out a fellow member get new rotors put on to his S-Type.

Dang Thermo - why do you live so far away man! Love what you did with the fog lights, now they match the rest of the car...

Christo, pull off the foglights and send them to me. NOt that big of a deal. I am always tinkering on something. Thinking I might be having a wood project going here shortly with creating some wood grain vents for in the dash. Got a few ideas, but, we'll see what happens. I think the cost of the wood will depict which way I go.

Chris - that would be very nice of you bro! I might need to find some time to get to taking them off but I would really appreciate it!

How is the wood project going?

Christo, with working swing shift, 7 days a week, etc, I haven't had a lot of time. Hell, I have parts off of the body of the car that I haven't had a chance to paint. Grrrr. OH well, I will get to it soon enough.

jvegas, no projectors, but I am looking to upgrade the factory bulbs to HID bulbs. Figure, might as well make the front end look right. Also need to upgrade the turn signal bulbs to some LED bulbs to get rid of the yellow hint in the lens. Clean things up a little bit.

jvegas, you are why I am wanting to do the fog light mod.

By the way, what part of Ohio are you in? I'm looking to go flying up I-76/80 to head back home to Toledo around Christmas. Just thinking.

jvegas, thanks for the offer, but I am sure I have the wiring down for the fog lights. As for modifying the mounts for the new bulbs, shouldn't be a problem either. I would most likely stop by to say hi, chat a bit about cars and whatnot and then get on my way. Granted, the wife may have something to say about it. He he he he. What was that new seatbelt design for the passenger seat? LMNO. I wonder if it comes with wrist restraints?
