Default "Cruise Control Not Available" vacuum issue?

Hello,

My first HELP post

I started getting the message "Cruise Control Not Available". Upon reading a thread I saw it may be a vacuum leak somewhere. Upon further investigation, I noticed that the hose that goes from the booster cylinder to the engine has a small perfectly well drilled hole, and once I cover it with my finger I can feel vacuum pressure.

My question is whether that hole is supposed to be there to start with. It is not that the hole was made by accident. It seems to be part of the hose. I hope the picture posts correctly, it shows the little hole.
My other question is whether I am supposed to have vacuum thru that little hole. Shall I buy a new one, or just cover the hole with glue or bubble gum?

Thanks!

I see you have a 2.5 x-type. It would be easier to help if you add that info to your signature. You can do that thru the User Control Panel.
The brake booster check valve should not have any holes. Put a piece of tape over the hole and see if that corrects your "cruise not available". If it does then replace the brake booster hose assembly. It will pullout of the manifold and the brake booster if you push the outer plastic ring toward the housing to release the seal and then slowly pull on the hose.

It is a 2003 X-Type 2.5L AWD. Sorry, I am trying to get familiar with the forum. I will add it somehow.

I will cover the hole, and see how it works. Likely I need to get a new one.

Thanks!

I've added vehicle details to your Signature which is how they appeared with your latest post. I've also moved the thread from General Tech Help to X-Type forum. This is the place to post questions about you model.

That's one of the "Big 3" to check for vacuum leak. Not supposed to have any leaking air. If you pull the codes you'll have one (or more) most likely for car running lean.
