I've searched, probably not well enough, but I can't find custom tail lights for an 02 x-type. Does anyone have pics of them or a link as to where to buy them? Thanks.

 

Eric, check out Mina Gallery. They have some custom tail lights. They are the only ones that sell any sort of aftermarket tail light that I am aware of. So, your option is to get a style that most of the tail light is matched to the body color and then you have 2 recessed lights that are round. Is it just me, or do others not find those all that flattering?

 

no i agree chris, i really do not like the aftermarket tail lights at all. its a shame that the only aftermarket tail lights for our cars are not the best looking.

 

Chris, I agree, the only other option would be to set out to make your own. Just need a basic knowledge of how to work with molten acrylic and be able to form your own moulds. Nothing big you understand. Then there is the whole legal issue of "not being DOT approved" thing too. You would be more than likely better off finding a tail light that was slightly smaller than the X's tail light and then going to a body shop to have them french them in place. But, if you did that, I'm sure people would really wonder what vehicle you are driving if they only saw the back.

 

Eric, there are a few examples of what some guys have done with tint or paint. I actually LIKE the look of the Mina tail lights. Arden was making some too at one point but i wasn't sold on the fit and finish. Had a body shop custom paint mine instead. There should be a few threads you can have a look at if you search here on the forum.
