Default Dashboard everything not reading

Engine idling all okay with no issues , then suddenly all lights come on on dashboard , battery warning light etc etc on.
Rev counter showing nothing and fuel and temperature gauge just as though key in ignition 1 section
Checked voltage at battery just on 15v idling
Switched everything off and restarted all okay with gauges working correctly , happened again about ten minutes later.
I am a mechanic so I understand anything technical information , just wondering if there's a known cause before I dive in I've only had the car a few months and love it , thanks.

I would start with checking the connections and solder joints on the ignition switch. It is acting like you turned the key off. Is the engine shutting down or continuing to run?

looking at older threads it could be a loose connection at the CAN, which seems to be the communication circuit for other units like the Control Module as most people who reported this experienced other accompanying faults and restricted performance
Good Luck

P1642 looks to be a CAN error and with the faults I'd be looking for a chafed harness (or maybe a bad connector).

You might like to get codes from the other modules read in case that helps pinpoint where the fault probably is.

Would that be at the connector that's tucked down on the os with a torn connector on it ?
