Default Driver seat (US) and power mirror not working

So for background, my 2004 XType 3.0 had the battery removed for a couple days waiting for water pump tensioner part to arrive. That was installed successfully Monday evening. Everything seemed to be working properly yesterday Tuesday. The driver seat memory setting remembered my “button” which surprised me. The single touch power windows function still worked as well. I did have to reset the climate control settings because it was blowing heated air even with AC selected. Those steps of running temp to low, then to high, then back to low and face-feet-face-Defrost did get cool AC flowing properly. The sunroof also had to be reset.

But today the driver power seat will not work at all nor will the power mirrors. I checked F9; F15; F16 fuses and all are still good. Any ideas why the driver power seat and power mirrors stopped working one day after being operable? The passenger power seat works just fine as do all windows and door locks. Thanks

I don't see on fuse diagrams (early = which is yours nor 2004+) the fuses you checked having anything to do with your problems. Here are the fuse box diagrams (you should use 2001-2003 one). Example = fuse #f 66, f 75, etc.

No that is not correct for my car. I’ve searched all the threads trying to find answers and read all the discussions about differing fuse boxes. Mine is different than what you show

Well mfg of February 2004 is supposed to be pre 2004+ electrical change as I understand it. The change occurred in March 2004.

So does anyone know of a reset procedure or know why the driver power seat and mirrors are related? It’s very odd that they both worked yesterday and moved when I pressed my memory preset upon starting the car.

My fuse panel is definitely the 2004-2009 version. Also I can tell my car has other 2004+ features like my gas pedal is attached to the floor instead of suspended from an arm like earlier models. Maybe my car was one of first built after the changes went in. Regardless I checked all the fuses related to my issues and they are good.

And just like that everything works this morning. I went out to look to see about your suggested write up on wiring harness and everything is functioning now. Did not do a thing to it. Gremlins maybe?

Both the driver's memory seat and memory mirrors are controlled via the driver's seat module. It's not uncommon for intermittent problems like yours to be caused by a chafed wire under the driver's seat. That's where I'd start.

The passenger seat is wiring is totally separate from the driver's, but the passenger mirror is controlled by the driver's seat module.

Memory seats and mirrors were introduced at the same time as the electrical system was upgraded. All the MY2004 changes are described in this Jaguar publication.

My bet is a chaffed wire under the seat causing intermittent short.

Didn’t do a thing to it and it started working perfectly next day and been good ever since. I did take a flashlight and look underneath driver seat and all the wires under seat look nice and neat without any pinches, worn areas. I’m chalking it up to just the old gal just showing her age.
