Seeing that the X Type has a Ford engine. Who made the AWD system for the car? Is it a Ford design?

Visteon was an in house supplier of Ford who had just been, or was just about to be, spun off as an independant company. Similar to how Delphi was a division of GM, but was spun off as it's own company.

So you could almost consider it to be a Ford design.

Even current Jaguar - Land Rover engines are made by Ford. Apparently, there is a shortage of engines from Ford, as Jaguar sales have jumped over 50% this year.
