s1yss, when you say tuning, are you talking about putting an aftermarket ECU into the car to make it make more power? Or are you simply talking about what is needed to do a standard tune-up on the engine? I am a little lost as to what you are asking for.

Pretty detailed link from rhriczko a forum member here.

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...lug+change+FAQ

Easy - take to shop
Cost effective - see link above

I will be changing my 02 sensors during my next tune-up (100k miles), since the intake manifold will be off for the plug change - making it easier to get to sensor between motor and firewall plus I have no idea if/when they have been replaced. With yours at 75k miles, may be something to consider. I have read that the sensors have a normal life expectancy of 30k-50k miles and if the upstream sensors are old, replacing them may also help fuel economy since they are air-fuel ratio sensors that provide feedback to the powertrain control module.

Hope this helps.

The easiest and cheapest way to get more performance out of a 2.5 is to sell it and buy a 3.0 manual. Any performance mods that would work for the 2.5 would probably work for the 3.0 just as well, and you'd gain more power in total.

s1yss, there are not a lot of performance things out there for the X-Type. You can do a cold air intake, but that is more for throttle response than improving horsepower. you could do a custom exhaust, but for the money, the factory system is pretty good and you are only going to see but maybe 10 hp at best. After that, you are looking at opening up the engine and doing things there. Lots of work and money for small gains. No one really makes a good tune for the X-Type either. So, you are kinda stuck.
