I checked Clevite (bearing manufacturer)catalog to find connecting rod bearings for 2.5 engine, it is not there for some reason. There are bearings for 3.0, maybe they are the same.
I am pretty sure 3.0 has bigger bore and stroke is the same, so block is possibly the same except larger diameter cylinders.

My understanding has been that they are completely different engines and were not even designed by the same company (2.5L is a Jaguar-developed engine, 3.0L is a Ford engine). However, I have no proof of that, so I could be wrong.

The engines are more or less the same - both are derivatives of the Ford Duratec engine. The 3.0 has a compression ratio of 10.5:1 and bore and stroke of 89.0 x 79.5 while the 2.5 is 10.3:1 and 81.6 x 79.5. Also the 3.0 has slightly bigger inlet and exhaust valves.

I'm assuming your main interest is in identifying the right Con Rod bearings?

As expected, the Parts Catalogue lists different Pistons (item 1) and different Con Rods (item 5) for 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 litre X-Type engines.

However it only lists one P/N for Con Rod Bearings (item 7) suggesting they are identical across the different capacity engines.

GGG, thanks!!!
I bought bearings for 3.0, they are identical to my 2.5.
Same bearing are used for 2.5 and 3.0 Duratec Ford.
One bearing is worn out, crank is damaged, I need to repair journal and install new most likely over sized bearing.
BTW, according to your parts diagram, connecting rods for 2.5 and 3.0 are the same, 2.0 is different.
