engine change
2006 X type 3.0 with 1811 miles on the clock. Noticed some oil droppings on the garage floor and took the car to the dealer for a look-see. Looks like the block is leaking oil and Jaguar has authorized and shipped a new engine. The wife wants to know if this is a on-going problem with this car. In addtion, what will the mismatched serial numbers do to the value of the car? Should there be other compensation from Jaguar??

Wow...engine leaking some oil and they authorized an engine change??!! Wow..i'm sure their must have been more to it than that??
First, this is not an ongoing problem....since I’ve never heard of them replacing an engine due to oil leaks, but consider yourself luck that you are getting it done.
Second, mismatched serial numbers? You won't have to worry about that for another 20-30 years...not too many people are rushing in to buy an x type and the x-type does not have a good "retainability" value....sorry...so I wouldn't worry there too much.
Third, other compensation? Like dude, they are replacing your engine because you had an oil leak....what else you looking for...like I said, consider yourself lucky...

First, this is not an ongoing problem....since I’ve never heard of them replacing an engine due to oil leaks, but consider yourself luck that you are getting it done. lucky for sure that the car has a warranty. I had read somewhere that the Jaguar blocks has a problem in 02 and earlier....could be wrong

Third, other compensation? Like dude, they are replacing your engine because you had an oil leak....what else you looking for...like I said, consider yourself lucky...luck has nothing to do with it..perhaps a copule free oil changes
