Engine Light
Hello all,
Traveling home from work last night my 2002 xtype 2.5 engine light came on. It was early in the trip and the engine temperature wasn't up to normal. It's very cold -23 and along with the engine light a message center display that read "Cruise control unavailable". I believe this was the message. I'm sure it had to do with the cruise control. At first I thought because of the outside air temp I had a freeze up but I had heat and the temp gauge was coming up to normal. No drivability issues. Started up this morning and check engine light still on. The car is equipped with navigation. Is there anyway to retrieve the engine codes without a scanner? Any ideas?

RE: Engine Light
Is there snow on the ground? If so, it may have just dirtied up one of your wheel sensors. Wait till it warms up and defrosts.
However, you can take it to Pepboys or Autozone and they can pull the code and tell you exactly what the problem is....if in fact it's a wheel sensor.
Good luck

Yes, a lot of snow. We are having a heat wave now -25 so maybe I'll take it to get it washed up. I'll also get the codes pulled. If a wheel sensor is dirtied up, will the system clear the system and reset engine light when normal signals are restored? haven't a clue what reloctor is. BTW, this car is awesome in the snow and ice.
