Like the title says my front fog lights dont work even with new bulbs im assuming its the fuse but dont know where to start.
I went to the dealer and they dont even have a wiring diagram just a picture of the fuses numbered and the amps, big help.....
Tried looking online n no luck either a couple pages say F87 but when i look at my fuse box its nothing like the picture. I have 5 rows of fuses not 4 like all I can find on the internet.

I have a 2004 Jaguar Xtype. PLEASE HELP!!

Thats how my fuse box looks like it'd be great to know which one to actually look at.

 

Look in the FAQ section on this forum, there is a linky to the fuse box and a diagram of the fuses, you're looking at F85 in the main fusebox in the car.

 

dmennis, first, try flashing your brights. Do those light up? If yes, then your relay for the fog light/high beam is good. If no, then your relay for the fogs/high beams is bad. Next, turn on the fog lights, does the symbol on the instrument cluster light up for the front fog lights? If yes, then you have a wiring problem between the headlight switch and the fog lights. If no, then check fuse F2 (15 amp) in the engine bay fuse box. This should be blown. If it isn't, then let me know and we will need to use a multimeter to determine exactly where the problem lies.

Thermo, is there some reason why my car is blowing through this foglight fuse every few weeks?? I am running standard bulbs, but this damn fuse keeps going out. Any ideas why it would do so?

 

UFOz, if you blow the fuse periodically, I would venture to guess that you have a wire that is rubbing some metal and you have managed to wear the insulation off of the wiring. This is especially true if you don't use the fog lights at all and find the fuse blown (fuse F2 is upstream of the dash switch, so, there is power applied to this wire all the time other than when using the high beams). Unfortunately, the only way to find the worn insulation issue is to hand over hand the wiring and check for any worn spots.

Another thing that you may want to look at with the bulbs is if you are using a higher wattage bulb (ie, a 65W bulb over the factory 55W bulb). While this doesn't sound like a big change, it may be enough to blow the fuse over time. But, I would be leaning more towards the worn wire issue than this.
