Front sub frame Mount captive nut broke free.
That works for me, i love that look and may well experiment in the future
I'd love to have it when mine failed, but as you can see, wouldn't have done me much with the bolt sheared completely shiny with no "lobs" left for a closed end wrench (spanner) to grab on to. We used a U.S. monkey wrench through the hole cut to get it off and back on.
Then couple of months later, a member posted how to lift the carpet and cut an access hole to the nut. At least had I known about that, it would have (& may still yet) allow me to tack weld the remnants or replace the nut.
For the benefit of future readers of this thread, here's a helpful 2012 post with pictures showing how to cut a ~3" square hole in the floor to access the top of these captive nuts. It's not difficult, and easy to reseal and cover with carpet when finished.
Suspension overhaul nightmare
Suspension overhaul nightmare
OK. years later I'm needing to do this. I can't get my wrench to bend no matter how hot I get it. It's a wrench from autozone, and I heat it with a blueflame torch until it's glowing orange and ...nothing. It remains as stiff as before being heated. I ran the blueflame fuel out. What wrench is being used?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Yeah, went ahead and did that. Was hoping to avoid going that route, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. I just made one cut along the bottom and folded the thin strips up. Folded back down when done and taped it up with aluminum aircraft tape.
