Front Suspension Thump.
2005 X Type 3l awd 77000KM Auto.
Some help please.
On a recent outing in my X Type of about 300 KM over sealed roads but lots of potholes and broken surfaces there was an unpleasant thump from the front end.
Now this is not new as I have had the suspension checked in my presence and my mechanic could not find any thing worn in the control; bushes using his big prybar or front struts. He did find the sway bar links worn and I have replaced them.
I am looking for ideas where to go from here.
The car is 17 years old should I replace the fronts struts and mounts as a starting point.
A second question what is the collocative thoughts on polly bushes, I can buy in Australia lower control arm bushes. I will buy the new struts and mountings and ball joints from England. There are few Jaguar parts suppliers in Australia,
Thank you in advance for your thoughts and suggestions.
David Bruce.

G'day David,
I had an annoying thump in the front end of my X Type and after a lot of hunting I ended up replacing the front struts and top mounts and that fixed it.
Cheers,
Jeff.

Hi David.
I purchased my car at the end of December 2019, just before Covid locked us down in Victoria.
The car passed a roadworthy, but I also had a horrible thump in the front end, even over minor bumps.
I replaced the struts and problem solved. I also did the rear shocks, although I found them a little difficult to source.

G'day David,
As you an see from my signature block I sold my X Type several months ago and gave all my manuals and paperwork to the new owner so I don't have a record of where I bought my struts.
I usually just find the part number here for whatever I need
https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic...-jaguar-parts/
and then Google the part number and mail order what I want from the best source and generally a whole lot cheaper than buying here in OZ
Cheers,
Jeff.
