Default Fuel pump malfunctioning - X-Type 3.0

Hello,

I have observed lately that my x type sometimes jerks on the road, my mechanic informed me the problem is with the fuel pump. So i ordered this unit: Petrol Fuel Pump In Tank For Jaguar X Type & S Type 2.0 2.5 3.0 4.0 from Amazon.

I have since replaced the in tank pump, and few days later, i am already noticing the same behavior, what am I getting wrong? any pointers please?

regards,
Nbewafaa

Nbewafaa,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X-Type forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.

It is possible that the problem may be a clogged fuel filter but I would recommend you read the posts in the links below. In the first post try Thermo's recommendation to get the system to set a code. The poblem maybe anything from a loose connection to the incorrect gap on the spark plugs. It will be necessary to eliminate each cause one at a time.

Yikes. You spent a lot of money for a pump and installation labor. What if your problem was caused by an inexpensive, easy to install fuel filter? I've learned to start with the basics; your mechanic tell you what the fuel pressure was before you ordered the pump?
