Gearbox fault
I have been driving x-type jag for sometime now. I recently took it to the mechanics to have my right tail light fixed. The electrician couldn't fix because he couldn;t identifiy the fuse for the right tail light.upon picking it it up from the mechanics the gearbox fault appeared and i n trying to move it there was hesitation acceleration from the full stop or slow roll. But after the initial hesitation it drives perfectly well. Could you guys tell me what might went wrong and how can it be fixed. Also which fuse control the right tail light? Thanks in advance.

Gearbox fault sometimes puts your car in Limp mode, and hence the hesitation in acceleration. The gearbox may be fine, but an electrical issue such as a short maybe causing it. I had a Gearbox Fault message together with headlight and cruise control failure, and of course resulting in limp mode. It was an electrical issue caused by a corroded alarm sounder battery (behind front left wheel). After disconnecting the sounder and replacing the blown fuse (which also to be for the control cruise control and headlights circuits) all was well again. The fuse number is different on different build years of the Jaguar X-type. The following link was useful: GEARBOX FAULT , CRUISE CONTROL NOT WORKING,
