Default Gilding the lily?

Just picked up my new (to me, anyway) X-Type yesterday, and gave it the detailing treatment this morning. The paint (British Racing Green) is in very good shape, but I was wondering how a tiny gold pinstripe along the upper 'crease' in the body would look? Too much? Does anyone have any pictures of a similar effort?

Robert, when I bought my car, it had a light brown/gold stripe on the side that was painted on after the fact (sorry, no pics of it). Due to the physical condition of the stripe (fading in many areas) and not being a fan of a stripe on a car like this, I removed the stripe.

I would tell you this, if you think it will look good, go for it. Worst case, if you don't like it, you can peel it right back off.

I think it could look good too Robert if done well.
Thermo's given good advice and as he says, worst case scenario you can always remove it if you think it doesn't suit.

Thanks, Guys. It's worth a shot. I guess it's that BRG is 'uninteresting' (Boy, that's probably heresy!) compared to the Anthracite on the XK8. You know.... it looks black at first, but then you notice it's grey, and you see a tiny bit of fleck in the sun, and sometimes you pick up a green component.

What the heck? For a roll of tape and a bit of time, I'll risk it.

Robert, I actually find the BRG a very interesting color. Get it polished up nice and good and then drive the car in and out of the sun. In the sun it is a nice bright green, but get a little shadow cast across the car and it almost turns black. Now, I will admit, seeing the Anthracite this weekend, it is a very nice color.

its a sticker, comes off easy - you might as well try different colors. silver might look better considering all the chrome and alloy wheels

post pics if you do it

I have a double gold stripe on mine that runs the length of the car except for where it's interrupted by a small Jaguar (looks just like the leaper) between the front tires and windshield.

Looks great on black and really accentuates the curves.

Very nice, bzavasnik! I went with a double-gold stripe also, and REALLY like it. It seems to lengthen the car, making it look more like an XJ, and I take back anything mean I said about BRG. Unfortunately, I'm about as camera-savvy as I am computer-savvy, so the pictures don't do it justice.
