Default Hello Good people, my Jagua xtype 2002 model temperature gauge hits red.

When I check the car, the engine is ok it is not too hot.. it is normal.. then i switched off the engine for 30 Seconds then start it again and the Temp gets normal.. After driving for about 9-10KM .. the gauge hits red then I switch off the engine for 30 Seconds then start it again and it gets back to normal.. I did this till I got home... So please help me .. What might be the cause of this.

The car drives well though.

it would help if you put your car model (engine type etc.) in your signature.
It could be a faulty temperature sender or gauge or possibly a sticking thermostat.
If the thermostat is sticking then the engine will get hot and you can damage it.
Check the temperature either side of the thermostat with an infra red thermometer.

Sober, what you are describing is sounding a lot like a broken wire to the engine coolant temp sensor. I would access the temp sensor and check the pins to the sensor. After that, replace the sensor. If you are still having issues, then you will need to hand over hand the wiring and look for some damage.

ON a side note, does the temp seem to go up fairly fast or does it take say 2 minutes to go up to red? If it makes it up there in say 5-10 seconds, this is more in line with a wiring/sensor issue. If it takes say 2 minutes, then that would be more of an actual over heat condition and the motor heating up, potentially leading to engine damage.
