HELP...2003 X-Type Check Engine Errors
My service light came on and I stopped at Murray's / O'reillys to have the codes read. I have a warranty but it doesn't cover anything. I was hoping someone on here could possibly explain what these errors are so I can figure out if itd be covered under warranty.
P0430 - - Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshhold
P11 - - Manufacturer Fuel Control Metering

not sure what you guys are talkin about...but what i meant was that I have an extended warranty on the vehicle. However, it doesn't say which service error codes are covered, only the parts that are covered included motor and trans and a bunch of other crap. If I am able to find out which components could be causing these error codes, I can determine if those parts are covered under warranty.
If they are covered under warranty, I will take the car to the dealership.
If not, I will take it elsewhere since I would have to pay out of pocket.
Thank you for your responses, they were extremely helpful to me.

Wolv, the P0430 code could be a cat that has worn out (doubtful), but could also be an intake vacuum leak. Check your intake porting valves (left side of engine, there's two valves that the caps are black and are about 3" in diameter bolted to the side of the intake). The O-rings on these go out a lot. Could also be a bad O2 sensor. The only way to really check the O2 sensors is to connect it up to a diagnostic machine and see what the sensors are reading in the way of voltages (should be under 0.5 VDC as I recall). if you are up around say 1.0 VDC, then you have either a vacuum leak or a bad sensor.
As for the P11 code, there should be 2 more numbers. Once we get those, maybe that will help narrow down the list of possible problems and get you towards your fix.

Thank you so much for your help Thermo. I will check those O-Rings when I get home from Tennessee (work) and see what they look like. Otherwise, I know that O2 sensors are not covered under the warranty so I'm gonna get a diagnostic machine on it and have them check those voltages like you described. Since it is under 80k miles still, i can have the cat replaced under warranty at the dealership if need be, but i also do not think this would be the problem.
As soon as I get the vehicle on the diagnostic machine I can resend the second code. I might get lucky and they could be tied together.
THANKS AGAIN!!!
