Default Help auto gearbox intermittent problem

I have a 2010 auto x type occasionally if i drive it hard particuarly from a standstill my gearbox failure message pops up and it goes into limp home mode. Turning the ignition off clears the fault and no problems seems to exist with the kickdown as it usually is very smooth i was thinking i either need to top up the transmission fluid or its a sensor failure can anyone make any suggestions ?

I would start with finding a mechanic that can read the C codes and find out if any codes are stored. The standard code reader can't read the transmission codes. I would also recommend a good transmission service, oil and filter change.

Once you can get the codes read let us know what they are and we can go further from there.

2010?

Jaguar X-Type is an entry-level luxury car that was manufactured and marketed by Jaguar Cars from 2001 to 2009 in a single generation under the internal designation X400.

got the codes read and it is a turbo actuator ?? According to the diagnostic reading up though there are vanes that will need to be unblocked or replaced. Is this a diy job or does a skilled mechanic need to do this? I have changed alternators brake pads and random hoses in the past so i have limited technical skill not a complete novice

Your best bet is to post the code numbers. A lot of times the interpretation is in error. If you post the numbers we can try to help sort it out.

The car is build for pleasure pony ride, you can drive hard on the speed. It sound like you want to drag race at the traffic light, it not build to flex the muscle, just ignore the guy next lane; You drive hard from stand still it'll short life to the TM & TC.

Ignore above. Seems a turbo fault and any engine fault may upset the gearbox so address the fault.
