Default help identifying clutch/transmission noise

Been searching for quite a while and havent heard anything like this. Any ideas on what components would be causing the whine while driving and shifting? I had planned on changing the manual trans fluid today but i ran out of daylight too early. My guess would be the clutch but im not 100% sure. File attached with audio.

Not so. The X-Type v6 2.5 and 3.0 for Canada and the US and other markets has AWD. The noise mentioned can come from the transfer case as well as the other suspected items.

Mr Gilbert, I think your posting has reference only to the F-Type, not the X-Type. Different cats entirely, both great cars.

TSB we got early in the X-Type production.
The shift cables were noted to transmit the noise but the fault will not cause damage.
Replace if the TSB describes the fault.
