Question Help with Radiator Fans

I just got my car back from the mechanic after one of my coolant hoses busted. The car is about to turn 100k. Mechanic noticed that under pressure the majority of the coolant hoses were starting to bulge. So I had him go ahead and replace almost all the coolant hoses including the one with the thermostat. Maybe I'm just looking for something that isn't actually wrong, but I noticed that both the radiator fans are on all the time now after the car gets up to temperature. Should the fans be on all the time like this? They seem to also be running at the highest speed. The temperature outside is in the 40s. I know in the summer with the a/c on i can hear the fans cycle on and off. I need to just let it sit idle and see if they ever shut off if they are supposed to. Any help greatly appreciated.

DZtt, give the car another few days to work out the air bubbles and do not forget to remove and reinstall the overflow bottle cap 1 to 2 times during this point (with the engine cold). This will help with pulling the air out of the engine and that should minimize the amount of running the fans do.

If the fans are kicking on right after starting the engine with the car sitting all night, then odds are, you have another issue going on. Keep in mind also that if you are running the defroster, this will cause the fans to kick on too as the defroster is using the A/C system to remove the moisture out of the air. So, this will force the fans to run.

I did start the car today with the engine completely cold. While sitting idle the driver side fan only turned on when the engine was up to temp. It started out spinning slowly as i think it should. This is all without the a/c or defrost on. However after driving it for any period of time both fans turn on and rev back up to the higher speed. When I get home I let the car idle in the driveway and they didn't seem to cycle down after waiting for a couple minutes. I'll remove the cap a couple times to see if it can burp out any more air.

I just want to make sure if there is something that needs to be done I can take it back sooner rather than later in hopes the shop my cover any costs since I don't think it did this before.

DZtt, it may be that your fan module is starting to go. The fan shouldn't move at all if you are starting the car with the motor cold and the defrost off. I would want to confirm that with my car. But, there is no need to cycle the fans like that.

The fan is only coming on when the engine gets up to speed. I just want to confirm how the fan works once its up to temp. Does it always stay on once it is at normal operation temperature and has been driven a little bit or does it cycle on and off?
