I need some mechanical help.
Hello everyone I'm new to the site and wanted to introduce myself. I've been an owner of a 2002 x-type for about 3 weeks and I'm having some difficulty with it now. I've been going through the forums and have been reading about free obd readings , so I did that.
My car has 67k on it. Since my purchase I replaced my headlights and foglights with HID kits. As I was installing them I had some problems so I had my brother pull the fuses to check if any were burnt. Since then my cel light has been coming on and off. About 4 days later my cruise not available message comes on and the car doesn't go over 3,000 rpm's Can anyone help me read my codes and get a diagram of my fuse panel besides the book. All help is appreciated.
My codes are po171 , po174 , po102 , po447 , po646 , p1251 , p1000
Thank you in advance

hey silver, download this file here and make yourself a copy of it on CD. Then run an install...it is a jag technical manual that has the DTC codes on it for your particular model. As far as I know, it must be run from a CD though to work. never tried it from hard drive.
You can use a Virtual Rom to open it.
P0102 Did you have the Mass Air Flow disconnected with key on?
P0171 & P0174 - Breather hose, IMT seals and Brake booster vacuum pipe.
P0646 - You pulled the fuse for the compressor.
P0447 - Canister Close Valve circuit open. You either pulled the fuse there also or your valve is bad or disconnected. I would go with the first one first.
P1251 - You pulled the throttle motor relay or fuse.
Do yourself a favour. Dont pull fuses with the key on anymore. Fix the leaks for the P0171 and P0174 codes and clear the rest. Car will be fine.

I would say definitly the cruise not available is caused by the leak from the booster pipe. Wrap your hand around the grey check valve then open and close your hand. Sound like a vacuum leak? Hissing? Replace the pipe.
Thanks everyone for the quick responses and info. I don't know where the booster pipe is and can I get it in an auto parts store and can I do it myself? Also how can I clear all the other codes?

The software link that I provided should be able to show you diagrams of many parts of the car, most likely the 'booster pipe' as well. Give it a download pal and browse the contents. (ok, search is quicker)

The booster pipe is the plastic pipe running from the brake booster to the intake manifold. It has a grey bulbous looking thing in the middle. No you cant get it from the parts store I don't think. But you can do it yourself. To remove from the intake side, where it goes in, you will see a black plastic fitting around it. Use a small flat blade screwdriver and push it down then pull the pipe straight upward. Then just pull straight off the booster.
Incase you dont know where the booster is, it is on the firewall in front of steering wheel with brake master cylinder and reservoir attached. Big black round thing.

you will still need an OBDII code reader to clear the codes...... I think a cheap one will be fine for clearing codes.. but if you spend 150 or so..... you might get one that had the descriptions of the codes built in...
I looked at that booster hose and it apeared to be fine no hissing.Although I do here a hissing soundbehind the intake manifold on the left side of the motor. I think it is coming from the small black plastic cap on the left side of the motor.Could that be my problem?
