Default ignition

key enters barrel turns but no lights or power

Without details of what you've checked or not in your post we need to start at the beginning and need the answers to some questions, please:
Is the battery fitted and connected?
If it is, is it discharged?
Do non ignition switched items work - eg, side/park lights, interior lights?
Is the fuse in the power supply to the ignition switch OK? Without your model and year details, it's not possible to identify it by Fuse Number, but it's a 15A one in the main fuse box under the bonnet.
Has the inertia trip switch been triggered, needing resetting? It's through a hole in the side trim beside the driver's right knee (RHD vehicle)
Of course, the ignition switch itself might be U/S, but you need to check the easier possibilities first!

hi xtype 2004 diesel side lights interior lights work didnt know about inertia switch fuse is ok

You need to check if you've got 12v at the red wire at the ignition switch. If you have, it looks like a new ignition switch is needed. If no 12v there, you need to go back to the engine compartment fuse box and check that there is 12v at Fuse 31, 15A. That would indicate a break in the red wire from the fuse box to the ignition switch.

hi again have got power to red wire so as you say could be ignition switch thanks for your time will get new switch and hope problem solved thanks again
