Inconsequential but annoying - "Low Outside Temp" warning won't stop showing.

That's the message on the console that warns you when it is 40 degrees Fahrenheit (or less) outside - which is 4 months out of the year here in NY.
Normally you clear the message by pressing the button on the stalk and then you don't see it again until the next time you start the car. late last winter it decided to repeat itself - all the time. Press the button and it goes away for a moment, and then comes back. I ignored it last winter, and most of this winter, but it is annoying.

I thought for sure changing out the ambient air sensor in the front grill would do it, an inexpensive and simple swap, so I did that. But it's still doing the same thing.

I poked around the old threads here, and don't see anything quite like this. I see see some A/C doesn't work threads - but that seems different - my AC works fine, and the outdoor temperature reading is always accurate.

The only symptom is an incessant "low outdoor temp" message all winter.

Any suggestions on what to look at next?

 

I do not have this "Luxury" item on my 2002. According to the thread below, you can have it re-coded by a Dealer to disable the warning.

When I lose the ability to determine if it is cold outside, I should probably stop going outside.... lol

You could also move south - that would fix the problem.....
