X-Type "low outside temp" warning light
Hi!
In our X-Type (ym 2004, diesel estate), is this yellow snowflake light, which warns the driver from possible slippery driving conditions when outside temp is low.
Good thing to have, I don't mind that, but one thing bothers me: Snowflake illuminates at +4 degrees Celsius, and the light is ON all the time below that +4 degrees Celsius, was it -10 degrees Celsius or -25 degrees Celsius, and it does not turn OFF until outside temp reaches +5 degrees Celsius.
Does anyone know is it possible to re-code the snowflake light by my self so that it turns ON at +4 degrees celsius, and turns OFF when outside temp reaches, for example, -5 degrees Celsius?
Reason why I ask this, is we live in Finland, and about 5 months in year the temp is +4 degrees Celsius or less, and every autumn you have to "get used to" that yellow snowflake... and the winter time here in Finland is mostly dark (about 4 hours daytime light in a day, depending do you live south or in north), it is a bit annoying to watch all the time that yellow snowflake... Luckily it is yellow, not red...

But you have to press it every time you go for a drive. I think he wants to know if it can be modified based on the temp outside.
I would say you would have to ask your dealer. I don't think they can do anything with it though.

Ahhh gotcha. Yes it it rather annoying. I guess it's just something I deal with. I'm sure it can be modified though, since lots of other things on the car can be disabled and modified and whatnot. Look online for x-type easter eggs or consult the dealer
I have got used to that yellow light, but what I have found out is that in X-Type is lots of things what you can re-code by your self, and I was interested to know if self-re-coding that light was even possible
I took a phone call to Jaguar Finland today, and asked about it, and they said that it is possible to re-code, but there is two things:
1. That snowflake warning light system can be re-coded so the snowflake warning light is totally OFF, so it does not work at all. Or that way that as it works as it now does.
2. Re-coding that light is not possible by-your-self.
But many thanks from all your answers

Turn it off!!
lol....hope they would do it for no charge, as you (and all of us) have been annoyed enough.

I never could quite understand those kinds of warning lights. I mean, come on, you get in your car and have a good idea what the weather is outside, then you are actually driving and can see what it looks like outside. I just can't believe anyone would alter their driving after seeing a light like that. I had a Saab that had something like that and it was annoying. Oddly, my 2005 doesn't have that, at least it hasn't gone on since I bought it last year.
