RE: Installing an OEM CD Changer
I do not have NAV, but do have the 6 CD changer in the trunk and a cassette in the dash like CRZYCAT has. Now if we were to replace the cassette with CD in the dash, how would you access it? The CD button controls the changer and the cassette button controls...well...the cassette. How will it differentiate the two?
Thanks

RE: Installing an OEM CD Changer
I got the cd changer in... having a bit of a problem connecting it though. it appears that the conector in the car may not be the same as the connector on the changer iteslf. The harness in the car is a female adapter and the plug on the changer is the exact same female adapter, hence the problem.
Could someone with a factory changer please pull some of the panels back and take a few pictures of it for me? I need to see the wiring. I'm guessing that there is another harness that needs to be purchased that runs from the factory harness to the changer.
Please let me know if any of you can help.
Thanks!

That's awesomebrother! I don't have any messanger programs though.
Could you take a few pictures and e-mail them to: maxspeed101@yahoo.com?
I need pictures of the wiring behind the panel that the CD changer is in.
Thanks again!

I asked the same question about retro fitting a changer on the jagaurforum.co.uk site. They pointed me to the instruction manual and told me how to program the system to work with the cd changer. Read this thread: http://www.jaguarforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=4308

RE: Installing an OEM CD Changer
Dude, you just saved me a ton of time!
I thought that there must be a patch fiber cable to connect from the factory harness to the changer. I ordered it last Friday and it should be arriving this week sometime. I will take pictures.
So far I've invested under $200 for this endevure. We'll see!
I plan on using some Alum sheet metal to make my own brakets to mount the unit. I will take pictures when I do the actual install.

Hey let me know if you still need anything. (I gather you are all ok now)
I love that code 1971... excellent.
I wonder how to get the dsp option ? i activated it and it add a button on the audio screen for dsp then a pic of a car pops up and you can adjust something for each position on it.. cool stuff but of course it reverts to normal whenyou cycle the ignition.
Just to answer the question posed on the other board. - since i am not a member here the Jag body platforms have code numbers.. we are x-400 for the X-type
other are something like x-350, x-202 for XJ and S types.....
Man there must be a code to enter to be able to set other features like auto locking when you drive or the remote global close. I am sure there are lots more diagnostics available on the nav screen if we just new the codes..
