Default Jag x type cf1 2.0D 2005

Hi guys first of all I don't know if I'm the right section of the forum, and I apologise if I am.The last time I was on here I had a s type jag which I never managed to get going.I now have a x type cf1 2.0D 2005 and the serpentine belt snapped ,would like to replace ,but can't seem to figure out how to get the new belt over the tensioner, there isn't a big enough gap between the tensioner pulley and engine and I can't lower the engine or lift it enough to get to the tensioner.so I can loosen it to open the gap for the belt.has anyone have any ideas?
thanks

Welcome back gerdam09,

YES - you are in the right section of the forum for your current Jaguar and Dell Gailey has given you links to relevant threads to answer your question.

As you are already wrestling with a Serpentine Belt, I've saved you another wrestle with the forum by updating Signature vehicle details for you.

Graham

Default Serpentine belt

A very big thank you to you Graham and Dell.i would have never guessed how to replace the belt, those links were very helpful. As I never use the a/c I decided to measure the belt without the a/c pump, the original belt was a 6pk1640 .the belt I fitted was a 6k1250 and having no tensioner tool I fitted the belt as far as I could round the crank shaft pulley from the bottom and turned the pulley counter clock wise and the belt slipped over very easily, but I did have to guide the belt on the top pulley with a hammer handle, this would be easier for 2 people but I did manage on my own. I've travelled 60 miles to work and back this morning and no squeaks or noises so far.will update if anything changes. Thanks again guys.

Just curious: what does the "cf1" stand for in your model name? I can't say I have ever heard. seen that before. Is that somethijng specific to the deisel models?

CF1 is for saloon body only related to euro emission standards. It's used for importing and exporting as well.
As some of the earlier cars are taxed according to engine size and not emissions it can make a difference to running costs.

Thanks. I kind of figured it had something to do with those kinds of things. Just never seen that before on here.
