Default jaguar ACM?

Well i have decided that i NEED a jaguar ACM. I will be installing it myself and what not. However can someone post a tutorial or something along those lines for installing? Also where can i purchase the ACM itself? Is there any cheaper aftermarket alternatives that work with factory head unit? How much will it cost me total? Hows the quallity also is it as good as the cd player?

Also the other day when i was taking my rear panel off so the tinter could tint my rear window, i noticed the FM modual on the side next to the airbag pump or whatever. Do you think if i run a cable to that box, i could just use that as a larger antenna for my fm receiver? What i did do was a soldered a wire on a belikin fm receiver so i could just connect the wire from the fm modual to the receiver? how would the quality be? I heard ChrisX did something along these lines? Please respond, i want to listen to internet radio with my new iphone :-D

The Jaguar ACM should be compatible all X-Types 2002-newer. I'm not positive as to where you would be able to buy one (other than the dealer) but the website www.jaguarparts.com has one listed as an accessory for the XJ ('04-newer). I would think that it would be the same part needed for the X-Type, but I'm not sure. It's listed at $315.00. I'm not sure what the dealer charges so I couldn't tell if your saving any money by going through them.

As far as installation, can't help you there. Sorry...

Well the dealer is charging 400+ for just the acm. Thanks for the link, however 315 is a bit steep also. But i hope that one is compatable. I dont know why the dealer said its 05 and up. Thanks for your response.

Not dumb, took me a sec to realize what it was. ACM stands for Audio Connectivity Module, which allows to driver to connect an Ipod/USB to the factory head unit and allows you to control your music through the audio controls in you car.

$400+ for the ACM is rediculous. There are a couple different threads on this site regarding the ACM. They may be able to give you a beter idea as to where you can find it and how much it cost others who bought it. Might also find a thread about how to install it. Either way, good luck!

Glad I asked because I never would've figured that one out. In the Jag, I love just listening to the car.
